Let’s talk tablecloths…
Let’s talk tablecloths!
I’m new to blogging so bear with me. Since starting my business 2 years ago, random thoughts come to me in my sleep. Usually, they pertain to the wedding on my mind at the time. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use these thoughts to help my clients. You see, (most of) my clients are first time brides. Though they have dreamed of their wedding day their entire lives, they haven’t ACTUALLY planned one. That’s where I come in. I have to take their dreams and make them a reality. Sometimes, it’s easy to do. Other times, it’s more difficult. It usually comes down to the budget (another blog post, for sure!). Of course, they factor in their dress, venue, caterer, and signature cocktails. They rarely think about tablecloths. What’s the one thing you must have at a wedding reception if you are using tables? A tablecloth. Are they free? Do they come clean and free of wrinkles? What do we do with them AFTER the reception? Sometimes, you get lucky. Some venues provide them; clean and wrinkle free on the tables for our use (Ahhhhh!) But sometimes, we have to provide them. We have to count each table and determine how many cloths we need and in what sizes and colors. It can be one of the most creative things you use for your decor. I’m finding most brides don’t have an opinion on them. I’m finding most brides haven’t factored them into their budget, either. So, guess what their budget is for them? Z.E.R.O. Well, that’s impossible so let’s be more realistic. You will have to rent them if you aren’t planning on having 30 120” round cloths to keep in your closet. Most brides aren’t planning on keeping them. So, renting it is! To rent a basic ivory cloth, can you guess an average price? If you guess about $25, you are right. Yep, per cloth. More for larger ones. So, for 30 cloths you can expect to spend about $750. You CAN buy them cheaper than that. They’ll be cheap alright. You’ll be able to see straight through them. They’ll also be wrinkled beyond belief. It takes HOURS to steam them. HOURS. Who has hours for steaming cloths on set-up day? Not me. Renting them from a reputable company IS the BEST choice. Suck it up and pay the price. It’s worth it.
